Hello Choristers,
Welcome back. Wow, another month has passed so quickly!
From your perspective it might not seem as though that much has happened this month.
We're moving house, so we've been somewhat preoccupied with packing, organising and
raiding the piggy bank for more funds but we're looking forward to being settled so
we can devote our attention once again to writing and publishing new music.
One exciting idea we're exploring now that the Friends and Patron system is running
smoothly is to create a rehearsal-track system that would allow choir members to
isolate, listen to and practise their own vocal parts. It's still in the planning stage, but
we're very excited about the possibilities.
You will have noticed the new covers for the works. We are trying to build and maintain our brand so that
songsforchoirs becomes immediately recognisable in the general market.
We only have a couple of new works for you this month.
Apple Wassail is now available. This arrangement of a traditional English folk-song is written with new choirs in mind. Most experienced choirs could learn this in a single rehearsal. The arrangement has three verses: the first is mostly unison, followed by a three-part canon and, for the final verse, a three-part harmonisation for SAB choir.
Summer is acomin in is now available. Another arrangement of an ancient song. Perhaps the earliest notated part song that we are aware of. Originally written as a canon and like the original version, ours remains accessible and fun to sing, whilst offering a little more interest for both choir and audience.
We have also included a couple of new sets. Two Pieces for Treble Voices and Three Short Concert Pieces for SAB Choir and Piano'.
